Is driving school mandatory in Ontario?

Driving school is not mandatory in Ontario, but it will better prepare you to help you to take your G2 test and develop the right skills you need to drive safely for your sake and those around you. It’s also beneficial because it can lead to lower insurance rates and faster time to get your G2.

Can I start driving school before I get my G1?

You can start taking the in-class lessons before you get your G1, but you cannot do any of the in-car lessons until you have your learner’s permit.

When can I join the course?

You can join at any time that works for you provided we have a course available. To check availability, give our office a call or use our online booking system to secure a spot.

Do I have to do all of my in-class training before I start the in-car lessons?

Nope. You can do your in-car and in-class lessons side by side at the same time, or do your in-class lessons before the in-car sessions. It’s up to you, as long as you have your full G1 permit before getting behind the wheel.

How long do I have to wait to take my Ontario driving test?

Anyone with a G1 permit must wait one year to take their G2 road test, but if you go through a certified driving school like ours, you can take your road test after eight months.

Do you offer any payment plans to cover my course?

We do offer payment plans for those who can’t pay the full cost up front. You can choose to pay the first half at your first in-class lesson and then pay the second half when you start your first in-car lesson.

Can you book my driver’s test for me when I’m ready?

You can book your test yourself through the DriveTest website or phone number at 1 (888) 570-6110. However, our office or your driving instructor can book your road test for you if you are using one of our vehicles for your test.

How fast can I complete my driver’s education course?

If you combine weekends and weekday classes, you can get all of your in-class lessons done in about 10 days. The in-car lessons will depend on your individual schedule.

Is there a time limit to how long I can take to complete the course?

From the time you sign up for our driving school course, you have one year to complete it.

What is the certificate that you provide?

Every student who successfully finishes our driving school course will receive an official MTO-issued certificate from the Ministry’s office in Kingston. This certificate provides official recognition that you completed a certified driver’s education course, which entitles you to take your road test earlier.

I’ve completed the course. How do I get my certificate?

To get your certificate, go to any ServiceOntario location and ask them to print out your Driver’s License History – this is your certificate. ServiceOntario will charge a $12 fee to print your certificate. Please call our office to confirm certification before going to Service Ontario.

Can I get another certificate if I lose mine?

All certificates are sent to the MTO and kept on file for three years. If you lose yours, you can go to any ServiceOntario location and retrieve another copy for a fee of $12.

Why is All State Driving School less expensive than the other driving schools in the GTA? Do those schools offer more?

At All State Driving School, our students are our number one priority, and we try to keep our prices as low as possible to stay fair to them. Every driving school approved by the MTO provides the same certificate and follows the same requirements for course completion, so other driving schools don’t offer extra or additional services for a higher price. Since we’ve been a well-respected name in the business for over 30 years and get a lot of referrals, we don’t need to spend a lot of money on marketing and advertising and can keep our cost low. Our service truly speaks for itself.

Do you do pick up and drop off services for your in-car driving lessons?

Yes, we do. We pride ourselves on accommodating students’ busy schedules and lifestyles, so we’ll arrange pick up and drop off with you at a preferred location. The only time we can’t provide this service is if you are requesting a pick-up in a restricted area.

Will my driving instructor still be able to come for pick up and drop off if I’m in another town?

We’re happy to have a network of driving schools and instructors on hand in and around the Greater Toronto Area, so we can work with you depending on how far away you are. Additionally, we can arrange a meeting point where your instructor can reach you.

Can I use my driving instructor’s car for my road test?

You can use your instructor’s car to take your road test for an additional cost, depending on the requirements from your chosen test centre. Additionally, we offer one-hour refresher lessons you can take with us right before your test to give you some extra practice.

What is your refund policy?
Full course and private training packages are eligible for a refund within 90 days of purchase.
